MIRRORS is now officially THE DAYS THE NIGHTS. We had to change our name due to other bands having the name first. Specifically a band from LA that was trademarked and still touring, it was in everyone's opinion to address this issue before we put out our first record, toured, built any sort of fan base and then had to change our name. We would have had to start from scratch. We had our attorney/manager do a very extensive search on the law regarding this and all signs were pointing towards changing the name. This sucks, I really like the name MIRRORS. I kind of got out-voted on THE DAYS THE NIGHTS,it wasn't my favorite but that's how it goes, we're a democratic band and have to make decisions quickly. So that's that. You're new favorite band is: THE DAYS THE NIGHTS!!!!

Show...

Hey just letting you guys know that Mirrors has a few shows coming up in November and December, so if you give a shit here they are:
Nov. 3rd @ Ash St Saloon (we play 3rd out of 3).
Nov. 6th @ Rotture (not sure the order for this one, but we're playing with Josh Northcutt's band and a band called Sirhan Sirhan who has the singer from a band we use to listen to called Molly Maguire, and oddly enough the drummer of Sirhan Sirhan is the little brother of the drummer from a band I still love, Shiner. Small world).
December 15th @ Mt. Tabor (I think we play 3rd or 4th)
-Then we will do some touring action in Febuary/ March. We're trying to get submitted for South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, and a festival in San Francisco called NoisePop. Oh and we have manager now. His name is Tim and he lives in Santa Barbara Ca. He's an attorney and runs a small label called Wednesday Records. Since we have interest in bigger labels right now he's going to see what we might be able to get from them, but if not we can always put out an album with his label. He's big on licensing and has generated some good paychecks for his previous bands by just selling there songs to things like video games, tv shows, movies, etc. So we're very excited to have a guy working hard for us. Breath...there ya go. That's the offical Mirrors update. Love you,
James

LA here we come...

So Mirrors is going to make the trip down south to play in LA on the 9th. Yikes that's really soon!! Anyway, we decided to make it worth our trip and go for it. There will be multiple "important" people seeing us this time: Mercury Records (major), Atlantic (major) Wednesday Records ( indie-dude also said even if we don't decide to go with them he wants to be involved with us by managing us etc, he's also inviting a friend if his from Capitol), and Velvet Hammer ( a managment agency from LA, they represent System of a Down, Deftones, Cypress Hill etc) will be there as well. So we asked ourselves, is driving to down to LA and being broke for awhile worth it? Yes, it is. So we're going for it.
So we leave ass early on Monday and will drive all the way through and stay at Jeff's sister's house in Anaheim (I guess it's only a few miles from the venue, so that's pretty cool). We'll probably sleep until the early afternoon and get up and do some stretching, coffee, pooping, pinch eachother and then head down to the venue and do our thing. We'll probably end up staying at Jeff's sister's again that night and then drive back wednesday morning. Holy crap.
Wish us luck!! Love all of you,
James
ps. I'm sick, I hope I'm better by then. So send me some get well vibes through the internet.

Well I'm home!! Let's chill yo...Baby Kate, I'm thinking of you. Uncle James is on his way!!!
Trip was susper awesome. Three weeks in Europe will do that. As far as our first day back, check Ashley's post, she explains it all in great detail.
I'm going to drink a cup of american coffee. Just a plain cup of Joe. In Europe if you ask for a cup of coffee you basically get a huge cup of espresso. It does the trick as far as getting your caffeine fix but sometimes you just need a plain ol' cup of Joe.
In other news dudes from Mercury Records ( the ones who flaked on us in Portland) want us to play a show in LA on the 9th of this month. One of them will be in LA "for sure" on that day and have gotten an opening slot that night at a venue called Chain Reaction. It's actually a pretty reputable club and would be sweet to play there but I feel like these guys f-ed last time and need to come to us now, on our own terms. I don't know, I'm poor from the trip, need to go back to work and shouldn't take off more time but... I don''t know, it'll work itself out I guess. I'm in a band which is a democratic thing, so if the other dudes say go, then I kind of have to. Yikes! Kind of feel like just being home for awhile. But what can you do??
Love.

Hope Is a Dangerous Thing...

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." -HST

Jumpin' Jack Flash

I like the Rolling Stones. I grew up thinking that they were an overrated band from the past, a band that was only good for their time. But recently I've realized that they are rock n' roll. They created the swagger, the vibe, the "roll" in rock. Anytime you here some kid say they like "such and such band," what they're really saying is that they like The Rolling Stones.

Either The Stones, or The Beatles. The Beatles = music. The Stones = Rock.

5 Desert Island Movies...

Shaun of the Dead

English, Zombies, Funny as Hell, Simon Pegg.

Fight Club

Revolution, Awesome Director, Brilliant Script, Chuck Palahniuk wrote the story, and "Where's My Mind" from The Pixies plays at the end.

The Shawshank Redemption

Perfect Screenplay, Perfect Story, Tim Robbins, Plain ol' Badass.

Pulp Fiction

Super Cool.

The Birdcage

Funny as Hell, Robbin Williams. -In my opinion one of the funniest movies ever made.

( This was hard for me. There are so many other movies that are close to me heart & soul, but at this very moment these 5 will do.

West Wing.

Ok, fine I like The West Wing!!! Alright?? Happy?? But I still think that it waters down the real truths about the white house and our relationship to the world. I like the stories, characters and direction of the show, but to make the ruling of the world into some kind of fun lovable tv show I do think is weird. At least they're a democratic administration on the show. And it is obvious that they are creating a white house staff on the show that's directly opposite of the one we have now, so maybe it'll make people want a better president. I just hope the average tv watching Joe doesn't assume that this is how it is in real life. In reality politics at such a high level is a cold, dark and evil thing. Period.
But maybe it's just a tv show. Maybe I need to not drink so much coffee.
Good night, and good luck,
Me.

Va-K

Im happy. I'm in a house, a nice house. The puget sound's behind me and my niece couldn't be any cuter. Her name is Charlotte. I'm listening to Chuck Berry. Are there any more popular singers with the first name Chuck? Chuck, that's the name of my girlfriend's dad. Don't get me wrong Chuck's a nice dude. I like him a lot. But Chuck is not the name of a famous singer. Whatever....
My mom's a sweet person.

Boredom's not a burden anyone should bear...

It's 2007. We are at the end. Life as we know it will be over in a matter of years. We are on the brink of World War 3. There are diseases to cure, people to feed, music to make, films to make, stories to write, drinks to drink, drugs to take, places to see and people to meet. Why am I bored?
Fuck.
